Look what the mail brought :-)

A while ago I ranted about getting all second hand stuff from my sister(s), which while it is great that I don't have to worry about buying all these things, it still made me feel like I'm missing out on the joy of getting things for my little baby.

Dear Dora with her big heart, on reading that post, decided to send Birdy a gift. The other day, very excited I got a big white package.

First out came this beautiful soft pink blanket:

Then I saw these tiny shoes (or is it socks? I was thinking shoes, my mother on seeing them said socks...). And wow, they are so small! Can't believe how small babies feet must be. lol.

Finally I reached out for this really gorgeous outfit and matching lovely light blanket. And while I am so not the person to care about brand names and all, and I usually don't have the foggiest about fashion, I think the name Laura Ashley does make me go ooooh and wow! And as Dora said, baby girls stuff are so cute and lovely! I can't wait till I'll be able to dress her in it!
[sister #3 said something about her (I mean the girl..) wearing it when she leaves the hospital. My reaction was - no way! This outfit is for a special occasion! Sis said how she had her kids wear something special when they left the hospital, as in coming home, entering their new house and beginning thier new life. I understand, but I don't think I see it as a special occasion, not one in which I would like to dress my girl..]

And now go and see all the other wonderful things people are showing at Mel's Show& Tell!

What a sweet present! And I don't get that whole going home outfit either. Is it an American thing or am I just an English girl without a clue - but I had never heard of it.
Glad that you got a special surprise present for Birdy

So glad you like everything. It was my pleasure to send them to you. Yes, newborn baby feet are very small and SOOOO cute! You'll want to kiss them!

My mother made a big deal about the "going home" outfit. I really didn't care. It was December, I just wanted her to be warm enough. But it made my mother happy to dress her in a sweater and hat she knitted, even though the hat was way too big for her little head.

This is so cute !!
I hope you find other special occasions to dress the baby with the dress. They outgrow their clothes so fast. Baptism maybe ? Or for meeting the family ?

Awww, what a nice thing to do! They are all beautiful! You'll have plenty more new things by the time she arrives!

As far as special occasions...I actually never saved any of my kids clothes for special occasions (unless it's clearly a special occasion garment). But, they grow out of things SO fast, I figured that if I saved them for a special occasion, they might get worn once or even not at all! Why can't every day be a special occasion for your little one! Either way, she'll look absolutely beautiful!

Special occasion..
The month of October is full of birthdays in our family, but more than that I was (am) pondering whether to have some kind of do to celebrate her birth (2 or 3 months after she is born, so I'll have time to adjust and all. oh, we don't have baby showers here).
But I was definitely thinking that a special occasion might also be just wanting to go for a walk in the park or wherever dressed nicely, etc.
On the other hand, coming home from the hospital, when I'll probably be tensed and completely not relaxed, is (IMO) not a time to put her in nice clothes.

And booties... so that's how they're called :-).

What a lovely gift! As for a going home outfit, my baby was so much smaller than we were expecting that my parents had to go out and get something that actually fit her! If you have a couple sleepers in newborn and 0-3 months, you'll be set, really.

What an adorable gift!! Dora is so thoughtful! Your little girl will be so lucky to wear such a pretty outfit and use the blanket. And my favorite is the booties. Too cute!!

Aw, I miss buying baby girl things! My baby girl turns 12 today, and Mr Farty would be aghast if I tried to dress him in pink!
Beautiful little clothes, just waiting to be worn!
